MULTIFACTOR AUTHENTICATION: CARA for Documentum made more secure through the introduction of multifactor factor authentication.
In addition to the standard username and password login, CARA now supports the use of multi-factor authentication using Time-Based One-Time Password (TOTP) technology.
This new security measure will require users to download the Google Authenticator app on a smartphone. The user will then be able to use the app to get a new security code every 30 seconds. The user must input this password into CARA before gaining access to their documents and files. After 30 seconds the password will no longer be valid.
This new security measure prevents malicious actors from remotely gaining access to the users’ files. Additionally, unlike a password or personal identification number, it is less susceptible to brute force or social engineering attacks, as the password changes every 30 seconds.
