2022 in Review : Customers, Conferences and the CARA Platform

Following the momentum of 2021, 2022 has been an exciting time for Generis, we've seen significant growth in terms of revenue, customer base, and staff. In the last 12 months, we have signed more customers than in the first 15 years of Generis, and we are on track to sign the same number in Q1 of 2023. This unprecedented growth is down to the tireless efforts of our team of experts and the continuous development of our fully independent CARA Platform. Learn more about our year below:

Our Customers and their Journeys to Organisational Excellence

Our customer base has continued to grow rapidly over the past year, with new customers in Life Sciences ranging from global Pharmaceutical companies with thousands of users, to local specialist Biotech companies. We’re very pleased to welcome them into the CARA Community!

Outside of Life Sciences, we are continuing to grow and drive CARA forward in industries including Finance, Government, Energy, and Media. We are continuously expanding the CARA Platform to fulfil the needs of these industries, in collaboration with our partners and clients, to add new out-of-the-box applications.

When we made the decision to build a cloud platform independent of Documentum, we considered the challenge of asking customers to move away from their legacy systems and trust us with something new. Over the course of 2022 we have seen more and more customers choosing to adopt a more data-centric way of working and to embrace digital transformation across their business with the CARA Platform. Consolidating a network of disparate systems onto a simple platform doesn’t have to be difficult, and in fact, Generis can help to make it simple.

Many our customers have either completed the migration to CARA v5 or are in the process of doing so. The majority of our other clients are planning to make the move in 2023. This activity has helped us strengthen our partnerships with some of our long standing customers.

Partnerships

Our partner network has grown this year, and with the appointment of our new Head of Partner Management Glyn McNulty we are continuing to strengthen these relationships. All our partners bring their individual expertise : Knowledge and Thought Leadership from Gens & Associates, Iperion, and Gartner; Subject Matter and Implementation specialists such as fme, Main5, and Deloitte; and Technology Partners such as Extedo, Lorenz, and Docshifter.

Over the course of the last 12 months, we have seen a growing number of partners take interest in our Build Partnership Programme, which is allows partners to build industry solutions on top of the CARA Platform. The Build Partnership Programme is made possible due to CARA’s core of content, data, and business process management capabilities alongside its configurability, making it the perfect foundation for specific industry solutions. The most notable of these Build Partnerships so far has been the enhancement of the EXTEDOpulse System, a comprehensive RIM solution, which leverages the low-code flexibility of CARA to provide organisations with an adaptable, end-to-end solution to their regulatory challenges.

In a ‘full circle’ situation, CARA began as a UI built upon Documentum and the CARA Platform is now the foundation for other industry solutions – and we couldn’t be prouder.

Industry Leaders

We are pleased to have scored highly in the 2022 Gens & Associates World Class RIM survey. Generis ranked above the industry average for innovation, and low on the ‘decline scale’, which is the assessment of customers’ perception of whether the company fulfil their roadmap promises. This is our best result compared to the two previous studies for customer satisfaction, proving that we are continuously improving our product in the eyes of our customers.

Thought Leadership

Over the course of 2022, we have worked with our Generis SMEs and partners to release a series of new resources to support our customers and provide information to prospective partners. This year we saw a number of infographics, blogs, and webinars, all of which you can find in our resource hub. We rounded the year off with a bang thanks to our much-anticipated Big Debate Live Panel Discussion. We launched our series of Big Debates in 2021, bringing together thought leaders and subject matter experts from across the industry to discuss and offer insight on a trending topic within Life Sciences.

Our virtual event ‘The future will be data driven: But who will steer it?’ marks the third in our Big Debate series, bringing together Dr Melanie Ruppel from BioNTech, Vada Perkins from Bayer, Frits Stulp from Iperion Life Sciences, and Preeya Beczek from Beczek Consulting to discuss the topic of data governance within the Life Sciences industry. The event was a huge success full of insight and experience and you can watch it on-demand here.

Events

After a long, covid-enforced hiatus, this year we were finally able to attend in-person events and reconnect with our community, spreading the word about the transformational power of the CARA Life Sciences Platform. We were lucky to be able to meet so many of you face-to-face and have some great conversations about the the latest industry trends.

During the course of 2022 we attended RSIDM in February, DIA Europe in March, GPRAS in April where we presented on “End-to-End RIM: The global labelling use case”. Following this was DIA Global in June, and our last conference of the year was the World Drug Safety Congress in September with a focus on empowering Pharma and Biotech companies to make the best drug safety decisions with the CARA Life Sciences Platform.

Our final event of the year was a very special one; a Generis Company Workshop where we gathered several teams to collaborate and discuss our plans for the year ahead. The workshop was an incredibly successful and productive few days where a great deal was achieved. Our team took the opportunity to work together on our roadmaps and re-assess industry needs so that we can continue to bring leading solutions across the board.

We would like to say a huge Generis thank you to all of our customers and partners for working with us through another successful year – your feedback and expertise help shape the CARA Platform into the best version of itself.
